Music Ministry

Senior Choir: Dr. Lloyd Mallory, Director

Beloved Voices: Ms. Kim Campbell Davis & Mr. Michael Guthrie

The music ministry of Union Baptist Church has a rich tradition for providing music which supports the spoken word through traditional hymns, spirituals, anthems, gospels and inspirational music. The music leaders strive to remain authentic in their interpretation of music from our heritage, while providing a contemporary approach to reach the spirit of the present age. The Senior Choir provides music for the morning worship each Sunday. Our children’s groups serve on Youth Day and at selected services throughout the church year. Men and women from all choirs and the congregation have come together to form The Men’s Choir and the Women’s Choir for the annual Men’s Day and Women’s Day services.

The music ministry also includes seasonal concerts, services with area churches and choral workshops. Noted musicians, such as William Dawson, Wendell Whalum, Marvin Curtis, Roland Carter and Stanley Thurston have served as choral clinicians- sharing their rich experiences of music in the Black Church.

The Music Ministry welcomes anyone from the community to share their talents with the various choirs in the church. Faithfully, we will continue to bring ethereal offerings in the name of the Lord.

“Be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” (Eph. 5:18-19)
